Allahabad HC rejected the petition to open 22 rooms in Taj Mahal!

Rajneesh Singh had filed a welfare petition in the Lucknow branch of the Allahabad High Court seeking an order to open and inspect the 22 rooms of the Taj Mahal, one of the wonders of the world, as they are always locked and everyone should know what is inside. The petition was taken up for hearing by Judge DK Upadhyay and Subhash Vidyarthi.

During the hearing, Rajneesh Singh's lawyer argued that "the public has a right to know the facts about the Taj Mahal. Therefore, the 22 rooms in the Taj Mahal should be opened. I have attached some documents regarding the history of the Taj Mahal and its age." The judges objected, saying, "If in doubt as to the age of the Taj Mahal, are you coming to say that it was not built by Shah Jahan? Are we here to examine who built the Taj Mahal?" As questioned.

Following this, on what basis did you approach the court to open the rooms in the Taj Mahal? Rajneesh Singh's party responded by asking the judges, "We have come to court under the country's Citizen and Right to Information Act."

The judges who responded to this said that data can only be obtained under the Right to Information Act. Where is the provision in the law to direct research? If in doubt about the Taj Mahal, complete your MA, and study for yourself. Then come to court if permission is denied. Will you open the Taj Mahal today and demand that you be allowed to enter and inspect the judges' chambers tomorrow? Do not act like this in court. "
