126 year-old Swami Sivananda receives Padma Shri award from President

Padma Award
The Central Government annually confers the Padma Awards to the persons in recognition of outstanding achievements in various fields. Accordingly, it was announced that 128 Padma Shri Awards will be given this year. Of these, four will be conferred with the Padma Vibhushan, 17 the Padma Bhushan and 107 the Padma Shri. This year's Padma Awards ceremony was held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi yesterday.
Swami Sivananda
Swami Sivananda is from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. He is 126 years old. The Central Government had earlier announced that he would be conferred with Padma Shri. Sivananda, who is an expert in the art of yoga, has been doing various yoga asanas daily. He is also spreading Yogasana all over the world through his disciples. The Central Government has announced the Padma Shri in his honor.
Sivananda bowed down
Swami Sivananda, who was present at the Padma Awards ceremony yesterday, bowed before the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Seeing this, Prime Minister Modi paid his respects to Sivananda too. Later, Swami Sivananda also paid his respects to President Ram Nath Kovind.
Swami Sivananda is the oldest recipient of the Padma Award in Indian history. An expert in yoga, he is popularly known as 'Yog Sevak'.
