Zydus Cadila Launches Cheap Drug in India for Treating COVID-19 Patients – Report

Zydus has priced this cheap generic version of Remdesivir at Rs.2,800. Remdac is the brand which will be representing and selling this drug to the government and private hospitals which are treating coronavirus patients.

This is the fifth company which is launching a copy of the Remdesivir drug, after Hetero Labs Ltd, Cipla, Jubliant Life Sciences Ltd., and Mylan NV. Previously, some Indian states were complaining of a lack of supply. This in turn was hindering the process of treatment which was being provided to several covid-19 positive patients. However, with an increase in mock-up drug production, this problem is expected to be solved.

The total number of cases in India as of Wednesday was 2.33 million. Everyday an additional 50,000 cases are being recorded.
