Drawn towards lavish lifestyle, a 20-year-old boy allegedly faked his own kidnapping. He wanted a ransom of Rs 1 lakh from his parents. The accused was arrested from Gurugram by the Mainpuri police, reports Times Now.

His father is a farmer. He had allegedly left his home on April 22 stating he was going to join a private company. His father received a call from his son's mobile phone on April 28.

The caller informed the father about the kidnapping and asked him to deposit Rs 1 lakh in his son's bank account. The father alleged that he was asked to deposit Rs 1 lakh in the account of the accused if he wanted to see his son alive.

The father of the accused informed the SP Mainpuri about the incident. Growing suspicious, the police tracked the accused's mobile phone and found that the location was in Gurugram. A police team then reached Gurugram and caught the accused in Sector 18 near IFFCO Chowk.

He was allegedly buying water bottle when he was found. Investigation revealed that the accused had faked his own kidnapping to get money from his father. The accused was arrested and booked under section 384 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for extortion and Section 420 of IPC for cheating.
