Video Goes Viral! Indian worker stranded in Saudi Arabia, desperately ask for help
Home > News Shots > India newsHours after a video of an Indian worker from Telangana, who desperately needed help from Saudi Arabia desert where he was being deprived of food and also beaten up by his kafil (employer), the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia has traced the man. The man has been identified as Veeraiah, who is a resident of Thummapuram mandal in Karimnagar.
According to Times of India (ToI) report, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh contacted the man after initial attempts to get through to him on his phone. Veeraiah, said that his mother died recently and he wanted to come to India to perform her last rites but was not allowed by his kafil.
The viral video has been shot somewhere in a desert in Saudi Arabia that showing few camels in the background. In the video, the man is seen expressing his ordeal that he was allegedly put in the desert to take care of some 100 camels and when recently one camel died, the kafil (employer) had beaten him up badly because the camel died.
Media reports further state that, the Indian Embassy on Thursday confirmed the news; after continuous effort they were able to contact the man and his sponsor. To which his sponsor said that the man will be sent back to India after Ramzan.
Meanwhile, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president KT Rama Rao who had urged Union external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and India’s ambassador to UAE Navdeep Suri to help the victim return to India thanked the authorities.
