Devotee chops off tongue to offer it to God

A 45-year-old woman from Madhya Pradesh reportedly cut her tongue and offered it at a Durga temple on Wednesday. According to reports, Guddi Tomar had been visiting the Durga temple since she was married. Tomar offered the Goddess her tongue, after which she became unconscious.

Tomar was admitted to a nearby hospital and is undergoing treatment. Her husband reportedly said, "We have three sons. My wife is a devotee of Goddess Durga. She suddenly sliced off her tongue yesterday afternoon when she was offering prayers at the temple."
