Attention Ladies! With This Rs 10 'Pee' Device, You Can Use Public Toilets Without Worrying About Hygiene

For almost all women across the country, clean and accessible sanitation has been one of the primary issues. Majority of the public toilets are inaccessible, primarily because of their lack of hygiene. For women, using these unhygienic toilets is nothing less than a serious health hazard.

When sanitation authorities refused to act, two IIT-Delhi graduates decided to do something about this by coming up with an ingenious solution. Harry Sehrawat and Archit Agarwal, third year students of textile engineering studied and understood how women in the class suffer due to dirty and unhygienic toilets. The problem is even worse when women travel.

“We visited many public loos across the city, and almost all of them were unhygienic and unfit for use. Upon further research, we also found out that public toilets were also one of the prominent reasons that cause Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) in women,” Sehrawat told DNA.

After much research, the two of them came up with a new device that allows women to pee while standing. They distributed the device to their friends and asked them for their feedback. Named 'Sanfe', the major challenge with the device was to make it fit for women of all sizes.

“The main technique behind Sanfe is that it eliminates body contact with toilet seats. It is compact enough to be carried in a purse and can be disposed of easily after one use,” said Sehrawat

Made of biodegradable paper, the device is priced at just Rs 10 and is currently available at pharmacies in and around AIIMS in Delhi. However, Sanfe is also available across India, on major e-commerce platforms including Amazon.
