White House Suddenly 'Unfollow' PM Modi Weeks After Following Him on Twitter
Home > News Shots > India newsAfter three weeks of following Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind and the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Twitter, the White House has now unfollowed them all. The White House is the official residence of the President of the United States of America (USA).
The White House Twitter handle has more than 21 million followers, who then followed 19 Twitter handles and all non-American accounts were Indian. It has also unfollowed the Twitter handle of the Indian Embassy in USA. However, now it is following only 13 accounts.
Weeks ago, PM Modi became the only world leader to be followed by the official Twitter handle of the US. Also, the last interaction between the two world leaders was over the export of hydroxychloroquine, which the US demanded to fight against the deadly coronavirus.
We all know that President Donald Trump shares a warm relations with PM Modi. They both recently had a humble and strong message for each other. In a tweet on April 8, Trump said PM Modi's gesture of helping US with hydroxychloroquine will not be forgotten.
"Extraordinary times require even closer cooperation between friends. Thank you India and the Indian people for the decision on HCQ. Will not be forgotten! Thank you Prime Minister @NarendraModi for your strong leadership in helping not just India, but humanity, in this fight!," Trump tweeted.
