A 65-year-old woman was hit by a water tanker in Shimla on Saturday. The state is currently plagued by a harsh drought and ironically a water tanker is a sight for sore eyes there.
Uma Keperate was walking on a road along with her daughter-in-law and granddaughter when the tanker suddenly hit her. Uma was taken to the hospital, where she was declared brought dead. The victim's daughter-in-law reportedly said, "I was the first to see the tanker bearing down on us. I managed to drag my daughter to the side, but could not save my mother-in-law."
Shimla is currently suffering from an acute water shortage. According to reports, 34 water tankers have been deployed in the state.
