A man’s phone, kept in his shirt pocket, exploded while he was having lunch at a restaurant in Mumbai’s Bhandup area on June 4. CCTV footage shows the man jumping off his seat and throwing the phone away as fumes come out of it.
Others in the restaurant were seen running away in panic. According to reports, the man sustained minor injuries and was later admitted to hospital.
Earlier in March in Odisha, a teenager died after her phone exploded while she was talking to a relative. Reportedly, the phone was plugged for charging when the 18-year-old was on phone. She suffered injuries to her hand, chest, and leg and later succumbed to injuries in a hospital.
