In a Fit of Anger, Man Bites Mother-in-Law; Father Cuts Ear!
Home > News Shots > India newsIn a shocking incident, a man from Uttar Pradesh has bit his mother-in-law’s nose while his father slashed her ear over dowry dispute.
According to police reports, Chand Bi, daughter of Gantha Rehman, a fourth-class employee of the Food Corporation of India (FCI), was married to Mohammed Ashfaq, a property dealer from Bareilly. During marriage Chand Bi’s family gave a dowry of Rupees 10 lakhs. But her in-laws started demanding 5 lakhs more after she gave birth to a baby girl. When Rehman refused, Ashfaq thrashed Chand Bi on Sunday.
Hearing about the incident, Rehman and his wife Gulshan rushed to their daughter’s home to sort out the issue. Amid arguments Ashfaq bit Gulshan’s nose while his father cut her ear with a knife.
Upon information, the police rushed to the spot and admitted Gulshan in a nearby hospital. An FIR has been registered against the father-son duo under sections 323 (Voluntarily causing hurt), 326 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by a dangerous weapon), and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code.
