According to reports, the Uttar Pradesh state health department has come up with a new plan to gift newlyweds condoms, contraceptive pills, pregnancy tests in an attempt to promote family planning.
The gift will contain a marriage registration form, condoms, contraceptive pills, pregnancy tests along with combs, bindis, towels and other daily utility items. The gift is reportedly a scheme under the National Health Mission and will be distributed by Accredited Social Health Activists.
The scheme has been launched in 57 districts of high fertility rates in Uttar Pradesh, including Allahabad.
