A government school cook in Uttar Pradesh alleged that a 12-year-old female student tried to poison the other students in an act of revenge. The cook alleged that the girl was seen mixing something in the dal, which is suspected to be pesticides. However, the allegations were denied by the girl and her family.
Allegedly, the girl tried to poison the other students to avenge her brother's death. According to the girl's family, the brother died in February after a student hit him on the head with a stone. Speaking to the press, the girl said, "The cook is lying. She is trying to frame me. My family had filed a police case after my younger brother was killed. The accused are trying to frame me."
The dal was not consumed by any student. A sample of the dal was sent for a lab test to confirm the poisoning. The girl has been charged with causing hurt by poisoning and has been sent to a correctional home.
