In a shocking and inhuman case, around 180 girls of the Tribal Welfare Residential School in Medak town of Telangana were forced to cut their hair off because there was not enough water in the hostel for them to bathe regularly.

"I did not want to cut my hair...we had no choice," Scared Student Reveals About Principle: Reason Shocking!

The girls were given a haircut on the orders of the administration. This incident came into light two days after this act. It was only after the parents who staged a protest because the authorities were not treating their children well, this news made headlines.

According to Indian Express reports, the girls studying in the school alleged that they were given a haircut as per the orders of the Principal. He stated the shortage of water in the school hostel behind his decision.

"I did not want to cut my hair, but the Principal asked us to and we had no choice. Even our parents were not informed about us being given a haircut," said Akhila, a Class 6 student.

Not just that, the students were reportedly forced to pay Rs 25 for the hair cut which they did not want. After Akhila speaking up, other students too opened up stating that some of them had even been punished by their family members for cutting their hair.

"My parents were not aware of the fact that we had gotten a haircut from the school. I got beaten by my family members for getting my hair cut," Nandini, a classmate of Akhila said.

Days after the outrage, the principal said that along with the water crisis, this decision was taken after considering the hygiene issues of the girls. As many were suffering from lice infection and other dermatological diseases.
