Teens who shocked Social media with 'Dog drowning' TikTok Video, identified!
Home > News Shots > India newsRecently, many TikTok videos have been glorifying animal cruelty, physical abuse, domestic violence, and so on. One such recent video of two teenagers who had tied a dog down and drowned it in a pond, went viral. After efforts from PETA and the Police, they were identified and an FIR has been filed.
One of the teenagers in the video was identified as Sunny Borasi (19) and the other was a minor. The Maharashtra Police investigated the case seriously and identified the two. Interrogation revealed that they had filmed it “just for fun” and that the incident had taken place six days ago. There was zero compassion towards the dog, among the accused.
Initially the video was circulated on WhatsApp groups. However, a TikTok user, uploaded the same in order to find the offenders and punish them. The crime is charged under Sections 34 and 429 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 11 (1) (a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
“PETA India commends the efforts taken by Ujjain police and is grateful for the support rendered by Special Inspector of Police, Aurangabad range, Dr Ravinder Singal, and his team and his team who helped trace the accused to Panchampura in Ujjain, which is also the source of the viral video,” PETA India’s Associate Manager of Emergency Response Team, said.
Previously PETA had announced a reward for identifying the two. “We’re calling on anyone with information to come forward immediately – to help dogs and humans. As psychologists well know, violent people often start by abusing animals and then move on to target humans. Let’s leave no stone unturned in finding the culprits and send a strong message that animal abusers can’t get away with their crimes. Join us in strengthening punishment for animal abusers now.”
