The Supreme Court on Friday declared that all the private companies must adhere to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and make full salary payment to employees during the 54 days of COVID-19 lockdown. However, no action is to be taken against those who don’t.

But the Apex court also said on Friday that the factory owners and other private establishments can negotiate their terms and enter into a settlement, with their employees. “Lockdown had an equally adverse effect on the employers as well as on employees,” the court said.

Earlier, the Supreme Court has heard the petitions which were challenging the MHA, regarding the payment of wages.

Various private companies had filed these petitions as they wanted the negotiations between the employees and the employers ironed out. The bench of Apex court which was headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan along with Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and MR Shah.
