Home > News Shots > India newsSushma Swaraj's demise has left many hearts broken while many are still in shock. She died on late Tuesday night due to cardiac arrest in New Delhi. The one who is shattered with her departure is none other than her husband Swaraj Kaushal.
As per India Today reports, Swaraj's husband spent the last few years being a devoted one while Sushma Swaraj continued to work despite severe medical condition.
There was one time when, Swaraj's husband was the happiest person on Earth when she announced last year that she will not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha election. As soon as she decided to retire, Swaraj Kaushal reacted by saying, "Thank you very much for your decision not to contest any more elections. I remember there came a time when even Milkha Singh stopped running."
"This marathon has been on since 1977-that is 41 years. You have contested 11 direct elections. In fact, you contested all elections held since 1977 except when the party did not allow you to contest in 1991 and 2004," Swaraj Kaushal had said in a series of tweets.
Further expressing his concern for his wife, Swaraj Kaushal said that "You are contesting elections since you were 25 -- and fighting elections for 41 years is quite a marathon."
"Madam I am running behind you for the last 46 years. I am no longer a 19-year-old. Please, I am also running out of breath. Thank you," Swaraj Kaushal had said.
Sushma Swaraj, got married to Kaushal in the time of Emergency on July 13, 1975. The couple recently celebrated their 44 years of marriage.
