Kolkata has reported a case of a suspected Nipah virus infection-related death with the passing away of a soldier named Seenu Prasad on Monday.
Prasad hails from Kerala and was posted at Fort William. He had been hospitalised since May 20. The deadly virus has so far led to the death of 14 people in Kerala.
His samples have been sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune, which is the only agency in the country to certify Nipah virus.
