'Should all Symptomatic but 'Negative' tested go for 'RT-PCR' Test? - Check What Govt Says

The Union Health Ministry has urged all the states and Union Territories to retest people who are symptomatic but tested negative for the novel coronavirus infection. The RT-PCR antigen tests are now less-reliable.

"States/union territories to ensure that no positive cases are missed to curb the spread of infection," the Union Home Ministry said. This was announced after several states have reported that using rapid testing are cheaper but are also showing false negative cases. This problem was recognised by the Indian Council of Medical Research.

India has registered a record of 85,35 coronavirus cases in 24 hours and hence the total number of infections are close to over 44,65 lakhs. Daily positivity rate in the country is recorded as 8.4 per cent and that has increased from Wednesday’s which was 7.7 per cent.

Almost 60 per cent of all cases are recorded from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka. India also has a very high death rate and almost 70 per cent of them are from the aforementioned states except Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
