A rape survivor and her family from Chittorgarh, Rajasthan have alleged that for the past few months they have been denied basic services by their village. Reportedly, the rape survivor and her family were shunned by the village after she refused to change her statement in the court.
The victim reportedly said, "The villagers gathered at around 11 pm and called my family. They asked me to change my statement in court and also get into an understanding with him (alleged rapist). I refused to do so."
The village panchayat leaders allegedly stripped the family off their basic needs and the support of the community. The family alleges that they were refused to be treated by the doctor and could not even get a haircut from the barber. They were even asked to pay a fine of Rs 11, 000.
