Rape case: Life term for Asaram Bapu, 20 years each for other convicts

A special SC/ST court on Wednesday convicted godman Asaram Bapu and two of his aides in a case on charges of raping a 16-year old girl in his Jodhpur Ashram. The court has sentenced the godman to life imprisonment, while the other two convicts get 20 years of imprisonment each. Asaram was booked under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act on charges of raping the school student in August 2013.
