Police arrest Chain Snatchers; Bananas Come to Rescue

Reportedly two men snatched a gold chain from a woman who was shopping in Gangashahar area of Bikaner on August 20 as per News 18 report. Later it was revealed that one of the two thieves swallowed the chain and the CCTV footage confirmed his identity while snatching the chain.

The police began searching for the culprits and eventually arrested them. The one who snatched the chain was identified as Rakesh. It was stated that the accused released a "big burp" at the police according to reports. When the police officers took the accused to hospital, the X-Ray reports confirmed the presence of gold chain in Rakesh's gut. The doctors advised the police to feed him potassium-rich food such as bananas and papaya instead of going for an endoscopic surgery.

Therefore, police fed more than a dozen bananas and two papayas to Rakesh which resulted in the emptying of his bowels and the chain was recovered. The police have rolled out further investigations on Rakesh and his companion, Vikram regarding their involvement in more such cases. A similar kind of incident happened in 2013 and 2016 in Maharashtra where the police gave the same type of treatment to recover the swallowed gold from the thieves.
