According to reports, Congress president Rahul Gandhi is to march at India Gate at midnight to protest and demand justice for eight-year-old Kashmiri rape victim Asifa. He tweeted, "Like millions of Indians my heart hurts tonight. India simply cannot continue to treat its women the way it does. Join me in a silent, peaceful, candlelight vigil at India Gate at midnight tonight to protest this violence and demand justice."
The march will begin from the All India Congress Committee headquarters and end at the India Gate. It was also announced by the All India Mahila Congress party that April 17 will be observed as a black day.
Asifa was kidnapped on January 10 and brutally gang-raped repeatedly for days. Allegedly, she was kept sedated and not given any food Her body was found in a nearby forest on January 17.
