A school has triggered controversy by issuing a directive to students and parents about the colour of inner wears the girl students should wear. Pune's Maeer's MIT School asked the girl students to wear specific colour innerwear - allegedly skin colour and white - and even specified the length of the skirt to be worn by them.

The parents and students on Wednesday staged a protest against the school’s directive. A parent said that the diktat was mentioned in the school diary and parents were asked to sign it.

Dr Suchitra Karad Nagare, Executive director of MIT Group of Institute, reportedly said that the intention to give such specific directives was ‘very pure. Stating that they didn’t have any hidden agenda, Nagare reportedly said that past experiences led to such a decision.
