A man shot himself after his girlfriend’s father asked him to prove his love by committing suicide in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal on Tuesday. Atul Lokhande, vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) for Arera Mandal, was declared brain dead by the doctors. However, he remains on ventilator support.
He went to the house of the woman, who he was in a relationship with for 13 years, around 9.30 pm and shot himself in the head with a country-made pistol. His uncle, who was waiting outside in a car, and the woman rushed him to a private hospital.
Lokhande, in his Facebook post earlier, said that his girlfriend’s father asked him to prove his love by killing himself. The father allegedly promised to marry his daughter to the man if he survived and if he didn’t, they could always reunite in their next birth.
