Home > News Shots > India newsAfter taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s supporters by surprise, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, attempted to charm the crowd in Punjab as she spoke a few lines in Punjabi at a rally.
The crowd could not stop cheering her for instantly moving from Hindi to Punjabi. According to NDTV reports, she began her speech in Hindi but quickly switched to Punjabi and said, “I am happy to be here. My husband is a Punjabi. Now, I have showed off my Punjabi, the rest of my speech will be in Hindi."
"They (Punjabis) have faced difficulties with a smile. I salute Punjabis and their land. Whether there is a storm or whether it is cloudy (PM Modi's), reality is on the country's radar," the Congress general secretary added while campaigning in Punjab for the last phase of voting in the national election on May 19.
Earlier, on Monday, Priyanka stopped her car when she was campaigning in Madhya Pradesh and met with BJP supporters who were chanting “Modi, Modi”. She said, “Aap apni jagah aur mai apni jagah (You are where you are and I am where I am). All the best.”
Earlier that day, just like her grandmother Indira Gandhi, Priyanka too jumped the barricade and greeted people after a public rally in Madhya Pradesh.
