After it was announced that not all will be receiving the National Film Awards from the President himself, over 70 award winners refused to attend the event.
The 65th National Film Awards will take place on Thursday and traditionally all the awards are personally handed out by the President. However, during the dress rehearsal on Wednesday, it was announced that President Ram Nath Kovind will only be presenting 11 awards and the rest will be handed out by other ministers.
Many of the awardees were disappointed with the turn of events and demanded that either all the awards should be presented by the President or none at all. They even wrote a letter to the Directorate of Film Festivals stating that they were disheartened.
