Eight-Month Pregnant Woman & Husband Walk For 100kms Without Food
Home > News Shots > India newsIn a sad and shocking case, an eight-month pregnant woman and her husband were forced to walk over 100 kms without food. After covering the long distance, they were offered monetary help and an ambulance in Meerut. The couple took this decission after the latter’s employer turned them out without any money.
According to a Hindustan Times report, local residents Naveen Kumar and Ravindra were the ones who spotted the exhausted couple. The couple has been identified as Vakil and Yasmeen, who walked for two days. When they reached Meerut’s Sohrab gate bus stand on March 28; they informed Prempal Singh, a sub inspector at Nauchandi police station, about their problem.
Soon after that, the Nauchandi police station and the residents gave the couple food and some cash. Meanwhile, the police also arranged for an ambulance to drop them to their respective village in Bulandshahr.
Earlier in the week, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day lockdown, millions of migrant labourers were forced to walk hundreds of kilometres to their villages with no means of food or transport.
Days after the chaos in the country over lockdown, Prime Minister Modi apologised over the hardships people were facing because of the lockdown.
