Pregnant Woman Carried To Hospital On Pole, Delivers Midway, Returns Back Home

A pregnant woman in the Vijayanagaram district of Andhra Pradesh had to be carried to the hospital on a makeshift stretcher due to lack of proper road connectivity in the area. The woman, who was carried for several kilometers by her family members, gave birth to her baby midway.

Muthamma was being carried to the hospital in a makeshift carriage made of bamboo poles, ropes and a piece of cloth. Her family members and other villagers were seen carrying her through the forested area, covered with mud and stones.

When the woman was unable to bear the pain, the people carrying her had to stop midway, and help the woman deliver her baby. The hospital was 7 km away, but the woman delivered her baby 4 km into the journey, and decided to return back home. Both the mother and her baby are safe.

The video was shot by a young man, who claims to have written to the authorities several times, explaining the lack of connectivity. "This is how we are forced to carry serious ill or pregnant women. No official or politician has bothered to help despite multiple pleas and appeal," the man said

In another clip, Muthamma was seen sitting on the ground, with three other women helping her deliver the baby in the middle of nowhere. Then, two women were seen cutting the newborn's umbilical cord with a blade.
