Dog-lovers erupt after Bengaluru's new 'one pet dog per house' rule

According to reports, the Bengaluru civic body on Monday issued a strange, new rule regarding keeping pet dogs at the house. It was announced that only one pet dog can be kept per apartment. An independent house can have a maximum of three dogs.

Reportedly, dog-owners have to get their dog licensed and fit them with a radio-collar, embedded with a chip. If the dog is not licensed, owners will have to pay a fine of Rs 1,000.

The new rule, however, did not go well with dog-lovers around the city. Heavy outrage poured in after the announcement on Monday. Dog-lovers bombarded Twitter with the hashtag, #notwithoutmydog. A Twitter user wrote, "Bye-laws proposed by @BBMP for cap on dogs kept in flats and houses is regressive, unthoughtful and infringe on my rights and is unlawful. They need to withdraw it asap. I refuse to abandon my dog, my baby. #notwithoutmydog."
