Superstitious belief! One-year-old burnt with hot iron rod dies

The boy's parents reportedly took him to a witch doctor after his fever did not reduce even after 10 days despite medication. The boy was burnt with iron rod near his arm on April 29 for treatment.

As the wound for the branding did not heal, the parents took him to a hospital. "The boy was suffering pneumonia and after being branded, he was in a critical condition. We referred the case to Ahmedabad on Friday," said Dr Sunil Acharya, paediatrician at the hospital.

Doctors on Sunday confirmed that the boy had succumbed to the injury as branding worsened the infection.
