The Nipah Virus crisis is yet to settle down and as of June 1, nearly 18 fell victim to the virus. One of the most tragic deaths was the loss of Nurse Lini. The nurse succumbed to the virus by contracting it from her patient. She took care of her patient, Mohammad Sadik, the first-ever patient to contract Nipah Virus.
Lini got a fever soon after Sadik passed away and was kept in isolation. After she died, she was buried off by the hospital. Lauding her dedication and sacrifice, the Director of the Health Workforce, World Health Organisation, Jim Campbell tweeted, "Remember them, lest we forget: Razan al-Najjar (Gaza); Lini Puthussery (India); Salome Karwah (Liberia)."
