The Supreme Court has reportedly rejected BJP politician S Ve Shekher’s plea seeking anticipatory bail and refused to order a stay on his arrest. The top court had on May 22 provided him interim protection from arrest till June 1. S Ve Shekher has been ordered to appear before the Egmore court immediately.
S Ve Shekher was booked for sharing derogatory and obscene remarks about women journalists on his Facebook account. While journalists protested demanding his arrest, the politician approached the Madras High Court seeking anticipatory bail. However, the HC rejected his bail saying that he is not a child to be pardoned.
