Home > News Shots > India newsIt is being learnt that as they are approaching the execution, the convicts in the Nirbhaya case – Mukesh Singh, Pawan Gupta, Akshay Thakur and Vinay Sharma – are reportedly tense and not eating properly, reveal Tihar jail sources.
They have also not told anything about their last wishes nor have said anything about bequeathing their property to anyone. Jail authorities have been allowing them to meet their families twice a week.
The convicts were earlier supposed to be hanged on January 22, 2020, however, after a mercy plea was reviewed and rejected, they had to be given 14-days’ time until their execution, because of which, now they are all set to be hanged on February 1, 2020, inside the Tihar jail premises.
Three mock hangings have been conducted by the jail authorities so far. A 23-year-old physiotherapy student was brutally gangraped in a moving bus in Delhi in 2013 by a gang of six, which includes Ram Singh, who worked as a driver and committed suicide in jail in 2013, and a minor accused, who was let off after having spent three years in a juvenile prison, the maximum punishment that can be given as per the laws of the Juvenile Justice Board.
It is being learnt that the minor has been relocated to an isolated town in South India and has been working as a chef in a restaurant with his identity being kept hidden.
