The deadly Nipah virus is ravaging Kerala and as of Thursday, 12 people have fallen victim to it. One of the victims includes Nurse Lini, who caught the virus while on duty. She died leaving behind her husband and two sons.
Speaking to NDTV, Lini's husband Sajeev said, "On Sunday morning, I went to the hospital to see her. She had the oxygen mask on, so we could not speak. I could see her for two minutes. I kept my hand on her. She was conscious." He added that being a nurse is tough and that he is proud of her.
Lini left behind a letter for her family which reportedly reached them only after her death. Lini's cousin, Reena Anil reportedly said, "The elder one keeps asking us to connect the line to his mother. The younger one cannot speak. Both of them look around for their mother when they need to drink milk. They think she is away at work."
