According to reports, Nipah virus has claimed two more lives on Wednesday in Kerala raising the death toll to 16. Madhusudan, 55 and Akhil, 28 were natives of Kozhikode.
Reportedly, Madhusudan, a senior superintendent had contracted the disease from Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. The deaths of the two were confirmed by Kozhikode District Medical Officer, Dr Jayashree.
Recently, a soldier from Kolkata had died from suspected Nipah virus infection. His body fluids have been sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune to confirm the reason for his death.
