A 28-year-old man from Mumbai was arrested on charges of abetting his wife's suicide. Reportedly, Soklaram Purohit found his wife dead on June 6 after returning home. Panicking, he took her body and went to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Purohit smuggled her body and took her to another hospital nearby, however, there too she was declared dead. Purohit refused to give up and took her back home. He decided to take her to another hospital in a different area. On the way, he was advised by his cousin to take her to a government hospital.

He finally took her to a government hospital where they declared her dead and informed the police. Purohit reportedly claimed to the police that he wanted to confirm her death in a community hospital before reporting to the police. The accused did not report her death for more than eight hours.

Reportedly, Purohit often fought with his wife and blamed her for not bearing a child. The woman died of asphyxiation. A case has been filed against Purohit for abetting suicide.
