Protest against dilution of SC/ST act turns violent; 6 killed

As many as six people were killed in Madhya Pradesh on Monday when a nation-wide protest going by the name Bharat bandh called by Dalit organisations against the dilution of the SC/ST act turned ugly. Reports of arson, shooting and clash with police forces have surfaced in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Odisha and Jharkhand. Normal life took a hit due to the bandh with several train services being cancelled and re-routed.
