Anybody who has watched Joker Tamil movie will remember how the female lead asked for a toilet and the necessity behind it. In one such move, the Madhya Pradesh government has announced a scheme where the bride will get money if the groom takes toilet selfie.

MP Government goes 'Joker' style: Bride gets Rs.51,000 if groom takes toilet selfie!

The scheme is called Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah/Nikah Scheme. For the bride to apply, she needs to prove that the husband has a toilet in his house. To prove that, officials demand the groom to send a selfie standing in the toilet in his house.

The marriage gift consists of Rs.43,000 in bank account, Rs.5000 worth domestic items, and Rs.3000, given for the wedding. To avail this, the bride should be of BPL category and above 18 years of age. Only 2 daughters per family can avail the benefit under the scheme.

On December 18, the government had increased the money from Rs.28,000 to Rs.51,000. The selfie plan has been implemented because it was difficult for officials to go and check every house due to the large number of applications.
