Minor Girl Gang-Raped; Hair Chopped Off; Paraded Through Village!
Home > News Shots > India newsIn a shocking incident, a minor girl from Gaya district of Bihar was gang-raped, hair chopped off and paraded through the village as punishment.
According to the police, the girl was abducted by a group of men on August 14 evening when she was out to relieve herself. She was then forcibly taken to the local panchayat building and had been repeatedly raped until she lost consciousness. Later, a villager spotted her the next day and informed her parents.
Following the incident, instead of helping her, the village panchayat ordered a punishment for her. Her hair was chopped off and she was paraded through the village.
An FIR was registered at the women police station on Monday after the victim and her mother met top district police officials on Saturday. “All the five panchayat members, who held the meeting and ordered the punishment, have been named as accused in the case under POSCO Act and have been detained. Besides, Devlal Yadav, who was identified by the victim as one of the accused of the gangrape, has also been detained. The victim has so far not been able to identify the rest of the accused in the gang-rape case,” Ravibhusan, Office-Incharge, Mohanpur police station was quoted as saying by India Today.
