Home > News Shots > India newsWoman and Child Development Minister Imarti Devi has triggered a new controversy on Tuesday by saying, “There is nothing wrong in cooking inside a toilet.”
The Minister’s statement came a day after visuals of a toilet at an Anganwadi School in Madhya Pradesh was being used for cooking mid-day meals for children. Reportedly, kitchen materials for cooking were placed on the toilet seat and the stove was near to it.
She justified her statement by saying, “There is a partition in between the toilet seat and stove. Nowadays we even have attached bathrooms in homes. What if our relatives refuse to eat in our homes citing that as a reason?”
“Utensils can be kept on the bathroom seat. We keep utensils in our homes too. The pot is unused and is filled with gravel.”, she said assuring that an enquiry would be made on the case.
Later, Devendra Sundryal, District Officer, Woman and Child Development Program said that action is being taken against the Anganwadi Supervisor and workers. He also said that a new kitchen will be built in the school as soon as possible.
