Soon after BJP pulled out from its alliance on Tuesday with the People's Democratic Praty (PDP) in Jammu and Kashmir, CM Mehbooba Mufti announced her resignation. She reportedly submitted her resignation letter to Governor NN Vohra.
Speaking to the press after her resignation, Mufti reportedly said that she believed that an alliance would benefit J&K, however, a muscular policy will not work for the state. She said, "I am content that we tried our best for dialogue and reconciliation in the state."
Mufti also announced that reconciliation works will continue and said, "We didn't do this alliance for power. This alliance had a bigger motive- unilateral ceasefire, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Pakistan, withdrawal of cases against 11,000 youth."
