Shocking! Unhappy with married life; wife strangles husband to death
Home > News Shots > India newsThe Delhi Police were taken by shock over the death of Rohit Shekhar Tiwari, the son of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister ND Tiwari, when they got to know that his wife Apoorva Shukla Tiwari is allegedly involved in the murder case of her husband. Apoorva is said to have strangled her husband and choked him with a pillow after a huge fight. She was arrested and taken away by the police from their south Delhi home and was later sent to two-day police custody.
According to NDTV, Apoorva who is a Supreme Court lawyer, was questioned for three days as the police investigated the mysterious death of 40-year-old Rohit Shekhar who died on April 16, who was then believed to have died due to a cardiac arrest.
NDTV reports state that senior police officer Rajiv Ranjan said "During investigation, Apoorva confessed that she has murdered her husband and their marriage was an unhappy one. She said her hopes and dreams were all dashed. They had a fight which became violent. She pounced on him and strangled him. He had been drinking, so he was in no position to resist."
Rohit Shekhar was murdered in his room around 1:00 am. The police officer further said that "she later destroyed the evidence. All this happened within one-and-a-half hours. He had been drinking all the way along with a woman relative. No one tried to wake Rohit Shekhar the next morning because he had insomnia. Someone went in hours later, around 4:00 pm, and saw him lying unconscious, with a nosebleed.
Earlier on April 15 - Rohit Shekhar, his mother Ujjwala and a relative had driven back from Kathgodam, where he had gone to cast his vote for the Lok Sabha election.
Media reports further adds that, Rohit's mother Ujjwala Tiwari was at Max Hospital for treatment when she received a call regarding Rohit. She then took an ambulance that brought Rohit to the hospital. At that time, Rohit Tiwari's wife Apoorva, his cousin Siddharth and domestic helps were at home.
