Kerala witnessed its first ever trans-sexual couple unite on Thursday in Thiruvananthapuram. Transman Ishaan K Shaan and transwoman Surya got married under the Special Marriages Act, creating history in Kerala. Family, friends, transgender activists and other prominent personalities came to wish the couple a good life.
Speaking to the press, Surya said, "It is just the beginning. We will be a role model for others. We will show the world trans-sexual people can also lead a decent life like others. Society’s attitude is slowly changing,"
Ishaan is a businessman and Surya is an activist and TV anchor. They both met each other while working together for an NGO. Reportedly, Ishaan proposed to Surya six months ago.
