Union Health Minister J P Nadda has directed the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to rush a team to Kerala’s Kozhikode district where at least three people were killed due to Nipah virus. According to reports, two more people, who allegedly came in contact with the deceased, are believed to be in a critical condition.

Following the three deaths due to the virus, the district health department has been keeping a vigilance. Lok Sabha MP and former Union minister Mullappally Ramachandran on Sunday wrote to Nadda saying that some panchayats in his constituency of Vatakara were in the grip of the virus and sought Centre's intervention.
