With the ongoing Onam festival in God's own country- Kerala, the liquor sales clocked up to Rs. 487 crore in just 8 days.

Liquor Sales In Kerala Touches The 'Record Highest Ever' During Onam!

With this record, Kerala made a whopping of Rs 30 crore rise from the previous year. Hence, it is known that Kerala has the highest per capita consumption of alcohol in the country.   

As per News18 report, the festival that started for eight days from September 3 to September 10, the state saw sales worth Rs 487 crore across all retail outlets which is a 3 per cent rise from 2018. While sales of a total of Rs 457 crore had been recorded, during last year. 

The month of August was profitable for all outlets as they recorded a Rs 71 crore rise in total sales from July. This time around, sales worth Rs 90.32 were made on Onam, when compared to last year that made Rs 88.08 crore.

The store in Thrissur's Iringalakuda town stood first in liquor sales across the state. While, the second and third highest selling liquor outlets were Alappuzha Kacheripadi Junction and Power House Road in Thiruvananthapuram, reports News18. 

Kerala's major festival seasons like Onam, Vishu and Christmas-New Year have always marked record returns for the state in liquor sales.

Report suggest that, alcohol worth Rs 90.32 crores were sold on September 10, because the next day was an official holiday for the retail stores.
