Kerala houseboat vacation ends in tragedy

A 2-year-old reportedly drowned while she was on a vacation with her family from Mumbai at an Alappuzha houseboat in Kerala on Tuesday. Reports say, the father of the child was holding her in his arms when the child slipped and accidentally fell off the houseboat into the river. Though the father immediately jumped to rescue the child, his attempt failed as the child went under the boat. The child was later lifted out by the villagers and rushed to a hospital where she was declared brought dead.
