A rape accused in the sensational murder and rape of an eight-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district that took the entire country by storm, who had earlier claimed to be a juvenile, will now be tried as an adult according to PTI sources.
Minor rapists get away with a maximum punishment of three years of imprisonment and also escape harsher sentences like death penalty.
