The police have confirmed that senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari was murdered on June 14 by Lakshar-e-Taiba terrorist Naveed Jatt. The Pakistani man had reportedly escaped from a hospital in Srinagar on February 6. The murder was committed along with two other local terrorists.
Shujaat Bukhari was the editor-in-chief of Rising Kashmir. He was shot dead along with two of his guards by the assailants as he was getting in his car after coming from his office in Press Enclave.
The Kashmiri police have reportedly arrested a local who ran away with one of the guard's pistols and two of Bukhari's phones. According to the police, the man seems to be a drug addict but is not connected to the assassination of the journalist.
