Relatives of five ICU patients in Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital, Kanpur who died have blamed the defunct air-conditioning of the hospital for the deaths since patients have been languishing under the intense heat wave that the country has been going through.
While a complaint was made by the paramedic staff, patients were made to suffer through the high temperature and were forced to adopt measures such as keeping doors and windows open for fresh air.
However, hospital authorities stated that the patients died due to chronic illness and not non-functional air-conditioners.
